Wiljami Rajala will be driving for Hallenberg Motorsport in the 2026 season!

With the arrival of this young prospect, team founder and former race driver Janne Hallenberg will step into the role of Team Manager.

Wiljami’s inclusion is part of the team’s long-term vision and future strategy. Our philosophy is to create new opportunities for young talents. We aim to teach and support drivers in areas such as car setup, media presence, and driving itself, giving them stronger foundations to continue their journey when it’s time to take the next step forward in their careers.

Hallenberg Motorsport is more than just a racing team — it’s a story of speed, passion, and experiences that bring fans and partners closer to the sport.

Pööki — like Teemu — is from Turenki. Their friendship began in the very first days of school, when two curious boys found themselves sitting side by side in the classroom. From that moment on, the world became their playground: forests turned into race tracks, mopeds into projects, and every day into a new adventure.

Over the years, they grew into inseparable brothers who dare to try anything — sometimes thoughtfully, but more often with the same bold spirit as a 12-year-old armed with a flashlight, an empty lot, and a great idea. Plans have traditionally been made on the tailgate, without dull Excel analyses, keeping creativity alive and life tasting like an adventure.

With that very same attitude, they jumped into the world of rallycross. Driven by emotion and passion, and at first with no real idea of what they were getting into. Along the way, bolts have been dropped, cars have been built through the night, and every failure has turned into a story still told years later. And best of all, those stories are still being written — in every race, every corner, and every new idea.

This is not just a hobby. This is our shared journey — one that grows, evolves, and brings together like-minded people along the way.

Story

Hallenberg Motorsport was born in a sauna — just like the best ideas used to be. As Pööki’s 50th birthday was approaching, a thought flashed through the steam: what if we started racing rallycross? It was more of a throwaway idea than a plan… but that’s how all our best decisions have begun.

Our first and absolute role model was our childhood hero, Matti Alamäki. Watching him race on the legendary Ahvenisto circuit ignited a spark in us decades ago — and now it was time to make that dream come true ourselves.

The wheels were set in motion — quite literally. We bought a Peugeot and eagerly set our sights on our first race. It ended dramatically right on the starting straight, when the car was completely destroyed at the 2023 Ahvenisto event. That moment could have been the end of the story — but in reality, it was only the beginning. The rallycross bug had bitten, and there was no turning back.

On a tight schedule, we picked up another Peugeot from the rally side and raced through the final events of the season with it — learning, stumbling, and laughing at our own mishaps along the way.

For the next season, we decided to do things on a bigger scale. We swapped the Peugeot for a Kia, and our mechanic Petri turned the car into such a rocket that success certainly wasn’t limited by the equipment. On track and in the paddock, we learned the people, the customs, and the unique sense of community that makes rallycross a world of its own. Our small tent and a borrowed motorhome became our home base — always open to friends and curious visitors.

The 2025 season marked the beginning of a new chapter. The operation took on a more professional edge: we acquired our own bus and converted it into a motorhome, with a shared paddock setup growing alongside Kalliokoski Racing. At the same time, we learned how to race rallycross seriously — but never too seriously. A twinkle in the eye remains our most important piece of equipment.

All of this is just the beginning. In the 2026 season, we continue the journey with even bigger hearts, better machinery, and the same delightfully crazy passion that first sparked on the sauna benches.

Partners — Enabling More Equal Competition

Motorsport can be pursued on a modest budget. Success, however, is another matter.

In motorsport, equipment, maintenance, and resources often influence the final result just as much as the driver’s skill. The reality is that not all fast drivers succeed — not because they aren’t good enough, but because someone else can invest more in their machinery.

Most drivers secure sponsorship wherever they can. Too often, support flows to those who already have better conditions, more visibility, and stronger results. The cycle is complete.

We want to break that pattern.

The idea behind Hallenberg Motorsport is simple:

When operations are funded through team sponsorships, the driver doesn’t have to carry the entire financial burden alone. This opens the door for drivers who have speed, attitude, and potential — but not necessarily the means to pay for success out of their own pocket.

With the support of our partners, we can:

  • balance costs more fairly
  • invest in equipment sensibly and long-term
  • offer opportunities to talented drivers
  • build sustainable and credible competition

This is not about a single season or a single driver — it’s about creating a model where skill matters more than budget.

For us, collaboration isn’t a logo — it’s a partnership!

We don’t just build cars and race days.
We build stories, experiences, and a community where our partners are genuinely part of the journey.

Partnering with Hallenberg Motorsport can mean:

  • visibility at races and across digital channels
  • a behind-the-scenes look and real involvement
  • experiences you can’t simply pick off a shelf

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
Here we’ve collected answers tailored for complete newcomers with no prior knowledge of the sport.

Rallycross Track

A rallycross track is made up of two different surfaces: asphalt and gravel. The track also includes an extra loop called the joker lap. The joker lap must be driven once in every race heat.

Race Format

Practice usually takes place on the day before the race, with the amount varying — sometimes just a few laps, sometimes more.

On race day morning, there is a warm-up session, where one or two laps are driven to test the timing systems and ensure the race cars are functioning properly.

After the drivers’ briefing, the qualifying heats begin. Three heats are run. In each class, the fastest driver earns one point, the second-fastest two points, and so on. After three heats, the points are added together. The driver with the fewest points wins the qualifying phase, followed by the next lowest, and so forth.

The top four drivers advance directly to the A Final, positions 5–8 go to the B Final, and positions 9–14 to the C Final. The top two drivers from the C Final advance to the B Final, and the top two from the B Final advance to the A Final. The A Final determines the winner and the other champagne-spraying podium finishers.

Classes / Cars

SuperCar
All-wheel-drive, turbocharged cars built specifically for rallycross. Extremely powerful and spectacular.

2WD RX / Open 2WD
Powerful rear-wheel-drive cars with relatively free tuning regulations. Handling is often more challenging in this class, but the power and drivetrain make for impressive slides and exciting driving.

Autocross
Cars are either front-wheel or rear-wheel drive and can be built from almost any production car. Engine displacement is limited based on drivetrain. Drivers are allowed to compete from the age of 15.

V1600 (Stock)
Cars from model year 2000 or newer, with engines up to 1600 cc and very limited modifications. Costs are kept reasonable, and because the cars are closely matched, racing in this class is particularly even and competitive.
